Jim Gallant

VP of Communications (co-chair) 2008-2009
Board Member At Large 2007-2008
Director of Content, Communications Committee 2006-2008
Lead CONNECTOR, Programming Committee 2006-2007

Jim Gallant launched his communications career by writing news scripts for local television and brochure copy for Hilton Hotels. These gigs led to a position editing Tech Notes, a series of “how-to” articles for Avid Technology, the Oscar-winning pioneer in digital film and video editing.

While writing a special effects guide at Avid, Gallant was bitten by the technology bug. He immersed himself in UNIX systems and network administration and joined a startup, where he designed digital production systems for publishers throughout the U.S. He logged thousands of frequent flyer miles advising clients from McGraw-Hill and CMP to The Miami Herald and The Boston Globe.

As an engineer with Sun Microsystems, Gallant longed to channel his creative energy and technical background into a communications role. He became a Program Manager and assisted in rolling out new services and products to Sun’s Global Support Operations.

Today Gallant combines his passion for marketing and technology as president of Licensed to Write. He produces clear and compelling sales collateral, web content, case studies and email campaigns for high-tech corporations, marketing firms, and non-profits.

AMA Boston’s “Voice of the Chapter” since 2006, Gallant pens promotional copy for the organization’s many events. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the College of the Holy Cross, he graduated summa cum laude from the Graduate Technical Writing program at Northeastern University.
