SUMMARY:AMA Boston Music Marketing Panel
DESCRIPTION:Music Marketing Industry Marketing\n\n\n\n\nThe event will bring together marketing professionals\, creatives\, and industry leaders to explore how music marketing has evolved in recent years—particularly the shift from traditional record-label models to a landscape in which artists increasingly operate as their own brands and companies —and what this transformation means for other industries and how they can relate. \nThe discussion will focus on topics such as: \n\nThe transition from label-driven marketing to artist-led brand building\nHow musicians function as independent businesses and media companies\nDigital\, community-driven\, and data-informed marketing strategies in music\nKey lessons that non-music brands and marketers can learn from today’s music industry\n\nFormat: In-person (and virtual option) panel discussion with Q&A \nSpeakers: \nNina Webb \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNina Webb is an award-winning music marketing strategist with over 25 years of experience building artist brands and global campaigns. She served as Head of Marketing at Atlantic Records and held senior roles at Columbia Records\, working closely with artists and teams to develop strategies that evolve alongside both the artist and their art—brands and products that shift as quickly as fan tastes. \nThe music industry often experiences technological disruption\, as youth audiences rapidly adopt new behavior to discover and consume content. Navigating this constant evolution\, across both creative output and consumer behavior\, places music marketing at the forefront of understanding how to build honest and lasting connections. \nToday\, Nina’s work sits at the intersection of industry and education. She consults with brands on music- and culture-informed marketing strategy and teaches applied marketing at the university level\, translating brand development principles into real-world execution. She is also a frequent guest speaker at institutions including Boston College\, Harvard University’s Music Club\, and the University of New Hampshire\, helping students navigate and understand the evolving music industry. \n\n\n\n\nEmi Mcswain \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmi McSwain is a singer-songwriter and content creator in Boston\, Massachusetts. After receiving her songwriting degree from Berklee College of Music in 2022\, she took to Instagram to showcase Boston’s hidden gems and highlight the city’s music scene\, growing her following to over 38k. She’s worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between Boston residents and the city’s independent music scene. Her mission is to make music more accessible and easier to find for those who want to support it. \n\n\n\n\nJeff Porter \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJeff Porter\, is like a carpenter in the hip hop world\, he is an emcee who skillfully builds his music with the precision and craftsmanship of a seasoned artisan. His dedication to the boom bap and golden era style of hip-hop sets him apart in a landscape where trends often overshadow authenticity. Jeff’s music is deeply rooted in the foundational elements of hip-hop\, drawing inspiration from the genre’s pioneers while infusing his own unique flavor. \nHis boom bap beats are raw and unfiltered\, reminiscent of the 90s era that many consider the golden age of hip-hop. Jeff is creating a soundscape that instantly transports listeners back to the true form of where hip-hop was born. Jeff’s lyrical style complements this classic sound\, with verses that are both sharp and reflective\, embodying the essence of true hip-hop storytelling. \nJeff Porter’s EP with David Ryan is a masterful collaboration\, where the synergy between the two artists creates a dynamic 1-2 punch combo that hits hard with every track. Their seamless connection brings out the best in each other\, resulting in an EP that not only showcases their individual talents but also amplifies their strengths as a duo. The production is sharp\, the lyrics are impactful\, and the overall vibe is smooth yet powerful\, making this EP a standout project. It’s the kind of hip-hop that resonates deeply\, with each track contributing to a cohesive\, timeless body of work. The chemistry between Jeff Porter and David Ryan elevates the EP to classic status\, a must-listen for any hip-hop aficionado. \nWhat makes Jeff Porter stand out is his unwavering commitment to preserving the original vibe of hip-hop. In an era where many artists chase after the next big trend\, Jeff remains steadfast in his approach\, staying true to the culture’s roots. His music isn’t just a throwback; it’s a continuation of a legacy\, a testament to the enduring power of hip-hop’s golden era. Whether he’s crafting verses or laying down beats\, Jeff Porter ensures that every track he produces is a nod to the past while still resonating with today’s audience\, making him a true guardian of the culture. \n\n\n\n\nPlatinum Sponsor: \nWe extend our sincere gratitude to our Platinum Sponsor\, Brick Marketing\, for their generous sponsorship.
