Meet Saniya Khambaswadkar, our Content and Social Media Volunteer for the month of May!

The AMA Boston Volunteer of the Month Award is presented to a dedicated volunteer who is making exceptional contributions to the AMA Boston and marketing community. To highlight some of our outstanding volunteers in the organization, we are recognizing a volunteer from our team each month. We choose an impressive individual who is actively involved in AMA Boston, working to advance the field of marketing, and making a significant impact within the organization and marketing community.

Who is Saniya?

Saniya is a graduate student at Northeastern University, where she is studying Digital Media Management. Previously, she worked at a creative agency as a Social Media Associate, managing social media accounts for various brands. The startup environment provided her with extensive experience, as she handled numerous tasks daily.

After her graduation, she is eager to rejoin the agency life, working with a diverse array of brands across different industries. In the long term, Saniya envisions transitioning into a corporate setting within a specific industry, and ultimately aims to start her own business one day.

Victoria Franco, Co-VP of Content for AMA Boston, expresses her highest praises for Saniya!

“Saniya brings incredible energy to the AMA Boston team! She enthusiastically wants to learn and dive into new projects. We are lucky to have Saniya on the team!”

We sat down with her to learn more about her work and why she enjoys working with AMA Boston…

Tell us about yourself!

I’m a big foodie, vegan and always up for trying new cuisines. Sitcoms like Modern Family, The Office, Derry Girls and Schitt’s Creek are my go-to for a good laugh. I love singing (in the shower), meeting new people and exploring cute cafes around Boston!

Why are you involved with the AMA Boston / marketing community, and how is the AMA helping empower your career and growth?

Contributing to the organization was also a priority for me, as I wanted to actively participate in its growth. During my time with AMA Boston, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge and practical experience, which have significantly strengthened my resume. The organization has provided me with the opportunity to explore new avenues and apply my learnings effectively. Moreover, the team’s warmth and support have been instrumental in my journey, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer guidance. I’m genuinely grateful to each member for their mentorship, camaraderie, and patience.

Being part of AMA Boston has been a rewarding experience both personally and professionally. It has not only expanded my network but also allowed me to forge meaningful connections within the marketing community. Moving forward, I’m excited to continue contributing to the organization’s success and leveraging its resources to further my career growth. AMA Boston has played a crucial role in shaping my professional development, and I look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead!

What are some of your goals for AMA Boston and where do you see yourself with the organization in the next year?

My goals for AMA Boston involve both personal and professional growth. Firstly, I aim to actively contribute to the organization’s initiatives by volunteering for various projects and events. By doing so, I hope to enhance my skills in marketing, leadership and event planning. Additionally, I aspire to expand my network within the marketing community through meaningful connections and collaborations with fellow members and industry professionals.

Looking ahead, I envision myself taking on a more active role within AMA Boston in the next year. Whether it’s through joining a committee, leading a project, or participating in different events and workshops, I’d like to make an impact within the organization. Ultimately, I see myself as a dedicated member of AMA Boston, continuously striving to contribute to its success while furthering my professional development.

I also hope to leverage videos and interview content this summer to engage with the people of Boston and generate more user-generated content for our social media channels. This would align with my goal of expanding our organization’s reach and enhancing our online presence through innovative content strategies.

What excites you about marketing/the marketing field?

The chance to get creative and innovative when promoting brands or products/services is what really excites me! I love exploring different methods and strategies to capture people’s attention and get results. One thing that really interests me is using real-time data to guide my marketing strategies. It’s amazing how analyzing data insights helps make smarter decisions and adapt quickly to what’s happening in the market. The dynamic nature of marketing coupled with the endless opportunities for creativity and data-driven strategies keeps me hooked and excited about this field.

Who is your favorite marketer OR what is your favorite business that does marketing well?

I’ve been using Duolingo off late and recently came across their Instagram handle. I love

their reels and content. They’re super fun, trendy, Gen-Z and relatable!
