AMA Boston is honored to announce that our chapter has been awarded the American Marketing Association (AMA) Gold Chapter Excellence Award (CEA) — the highest distinction granted to professional chapters nationwide.

The Gold Chapter Excellence Award is the highest honor within the AMA’s annual CEA program. It recognizes outstanding achievement across five core pillars: leadership, finance, membership, programming, and communications. Each year, AMA National selects the Gold recipient based on overall excellence, strategic impact, and meaningful contributions to the marketing profession.

For the first time in known chapter history, AMA Boston has achieved Gold, which marks a significant milestone for our organization and the broader New England marketing community.

This year, AMA Boston earned the top position out of the over 65 professional chapters in North America.

In addition to this historic win, AMA Boston now enters the prestigious AMA CEA Continuing Excellence program – an elite category reserved for chapters that have earned a CEA for five or more consecutive years. This recognition reflects sustained achievement in leadership, membership, programming, finance, and communications and places AMA Boston among the most consistently high-performing chapters in the nation.

A Year Defined by Growth and Impact

The 2024–2025 chapter year was characterized by substantial progress, operational advancement, and community engagement. AMA Boston achieved several key milestones that contributed to earning this prestigious recognition:

● Sponsorship revenue increased by more than 4,000%.

● 34+ events delivered, resulting in 1,600+ sign-ups and 900+ attendees.

● Membership grew by over 22%, demonstrating strong regional engagement and value creation.

Additional accomplishments included expanding our presence into Central Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island; growing our weekly newsletter audience to more than 7,100 subscribers; earning recognition from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s Office for DE&I-focused community work; and strengthening our volunteer leadership team to 50+ active volunteers across 14 functional areas.

About the AMA Chapter Excellence Awards

The Chapter Excellence Awards (CEA) program was established in 1974 to recognize and reward AMA professional chapters’ outstanding achievements in leadership, membership, programming, finance, communications and community outreach. Each fall, every chapter has the opportunity to submit a CEA entry, which serves as a critical historical record of chapter operations for the prior year that empowers future local leaders to build on past successes. The CEA is prepared by the Immediate Past President, and offers reporting and insights from all Board committees.

Top scoring Chapters receive Gold, Silver, Bronze or Turn-It-Up honors, and are not eligible for individual category awards of Excellence or Special Merit.
